Macchione represents a limited but prestigious production in the rich and ancient tradition of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. In this family run wine farm, they are able to produce a unique and high quality wine thanks to the privileged position of their vineyards and the continuous contributions of their trusted technicians. This splendid part of Tuscany has made wine an art form which provides many moments of pure pleasure.

 

A deep ruby colour. On the nose there are delicate aromas of fruit, which fades into florals with hints of tobacco and dark chocolate. A full, dense palate lifted by the fine grit of tannin with a very long finish. 

 

Grape: Sangiovese (Prugnolo Gentile)

 

Region: Montepulciano, Tuscany


Viticulture and Winemaking: Soil of Pliocene origin: a medium mixture of clayey loam with parcels of montmorillonite clay. Grapes are macerated for 10-15 days and fermentation occurs in concrete tanks with indigenous yeasts. Aged in oak (a combination of 500L French tonneaux and 15-42Hl French barrels) for 30 months. Aged in bottle for 12 months prior to release.
