Coming from the South of Burgundy in the Beaujolais, and the large
Beaujolais-Villages AOP which covers 38 villages and 3400 hectares.
Château de Beauregard owns one hectare of Beaujolais Villages ‘Les
Belouzes’, situated in Romanèche-Thorins on the border with the Moulin à
Vent AOP. This parcel is located in the heart of the village, on deep soils
made of rich silty alluvial deposits, allowing the production of a perfumed and
seductive Beaujolais-Villages.
Profile
The Beaujolais Villages shows a brilliant ruby colour. It reveals intense red fruit aromas, and the mouth is rounded, full and fleshy, with a nice supple and jammy finish. Best time to drink it: the three first years.
To be served in fine glasses, slightly chilled, between 8 and 12°C.
‘Les Belouzes’ matches well with ‘charcuteries’ (delicatessen),
grilled red meats, poultry and goat or sheep cheeses.
Grape: Gamay (100%)
Region: Beaujolais-Villages, France
Viticulture and Winemaking: All red wines are vinified in the winery in Fleurie (hamlet of Poncié). The grapes are manually harvested at optimal ripeness, sorted on a vibrant table then partially destemmed before a short maceration process without any ‘pigeage’ (punching down the grapes in the juice) or ‘remontage’ (juice aspersion), in order to avoid extraction of structure and tannins. Then the grapes are pressed and the fermenting process ends in a stainless steel vat at low temperature (18° C) in order to get a maximum of fruitiness.
