Foillard strays from the legend of the Beaujolais “Gang of Four” as he focuses on Brouilly and the Côte de Brouilly, which represent Beaujolais’s two southernmost crus, just south of Morgon. Alex Foillard follows organic farming practices and produces his wine using whole-cluster fermentation with natural yeasts, no fining or filtration. This 2019 Côte-de-Brouilly is reminiscent of succulent red berries and blood orange with a spine of minerality.

Grape: 100% Gamay

Region: Côte du Brouilly, Beaujolais

Viticulture and Winemaking: Soil is schist, granite with a light layer of sand. Vines are planted on the north-facing lieu-dit Chavanne. Aged in concrete tanks for five months before bottling, unfined and unfiltered. Aged 6 months in bottle before release.
