“Effusion” is a gateway to the local Chenin Blancs and the name is a nod to the volcanic rocks of the Anjou hillsides. It is a well-structured wine of aromatic freshness, opening with an elegant and fresh bouquet of white flowers, opulently ripe fruit with an undercurrent of spicy shale aromas. The palate is seriously structured with notes of elderflower, ginger, apple blossom, orange zest and crushed stones. Well-balanced and round with a tight, lasting finish with fine tannins.

Patrick Badouin has been described as passionate, philosophical and even poetic about terroir. He is immeasurably passionate about Anjou: its history, its terroir and its AOC stipulations since he took over his great-grandparents estate in the 1990’s after a decade of working in factories and selling books. The estate was in disrepair with only a single hectare of Chenin remaining. In the past thirty years, he has grown the estate to 13.5 hectares both in Anjou and Coteaux de Layon, as well as restored the vineyards and cellar. His overarching goal is to make resplendent Chenin Blanc with ancient techniques.
