Zonte's Footstep
Founded in 2003, Zonte’s Footstep is an independent Australian winery celebrated for its creativity, craftsmanship, and character.
The name pays homage to the land’s history - once planted with Zante currants in the 1890s, the vineyard later revealed fossilized footprints of a prehistoric giant marsupial, inspiring “Footstep.”
From its home in South Australia, Zonte’s crafts expressive wines that embody both the personality of the people and the terroir they come from.
Brokenwood
Three Sydney solicitors - Tony Albert, John Beeston, and James Halliday - purchased a 10-acre block in Pokolbin in 1970, originally intending it as a cricket ground. Instead, they planted Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon, marking the beginning of what would become one of Australia's most reputable wine labels.
In 1973, the first vintage was harvested: just 75 dozen bottles of Shiraz-Cabernet, transported to the winery in the back of Len Evans' Bentley. Despite the partners' lack of formal winemaking training, their wines received immediate acclaim, setting the stage for decades of excellence.
Today, Brokenwood sources from multiple renowned vineyards across Australia's finest regions. The iconic Graveyard Vineyard, acquired in 1978, remains the source of their flagship Shiraz, recognized as one of Australia's most exceptional wines and elevated to 'Exceptional' status in the Langton's Classification.
