2024 Joseph Burrier 'Montagne de Cra' Bourgogne Pinot Noir
HISTORY & TERROIR
Domaine de la Rochette is located in Milly-Lamartine,where the famous French poet and politician Alphonse de Lamartine was born. Milly-Lamartine is one of the mostfamous villages in Mâconnais for its high-altitude soilsmade of white limestone. The climat ‘Montagne de Cra’ is ahigh-altitude terroir (400 m) of white, stony limestone,shallow and well-drained. This exceptional terroir produces a fine, elegant Pinot Noir with great precision.
WINEMAKING
Produced from environmentally-friendly vine-growing, the grapes are manually harvested by hand at optimal ripeness, sorted on a vibrant table then partially destemmed (50%) before the fermenting and maceration process in wooden vats. We prefer a quite short maceration (8 to 10 days), including daily ‘remontage’ (juice aspersions) and ‘pigeage’ (pushing down the grapes). The alcoholic fermentation ends in ‘pièces’ (228 litres traditional cask), then the ageing lasts from 9 to 12 months in the same casks. Our natural winemaking methods, patient and very little interventionist, allow the terroirs to express themselves with much precision and purity.
TASTING NOTES
The wine presents a pure nose of raspberry and black cherry, with hints of blackcurrant buds; on the palate, hints of spice and breeding accompany the acidity of redcurrant, on ripe, fine tannins. Its balance and intensity will enable it to evolve well over 2 to 5 years.

ABOUT THE WINERY
Joseph Burrier continues the tradition of their family, working in the vineyards of Southern Burgundy for more than 5 centuries and 17 generations. Today, they farm Château de Beauregard and Domaine Georges Burrier in Fuissé, Château du Clos in Pouilly, Domaine de la Rochette in Milly-Lamartine and Domaine Joseph Burrier in Fleurie.
